Green Estate Management Solutions (GEMS)

Plymouth’s project aims to enable a transformation of green estate management, growing public value and achieving sustainability.

About the project

This is pioneering a new model of caring for the city’s parks; enabling the community to take an active part in their management. Bringing communities, businesses and parks together to create new ways to manage, fund and engage with the city’s greenspaces.

The project aims to

  • Find new ways to work with communities and social enterprise, encouraging communities to develop from passive users to proactive supporters.

  • Nurture a more collaborative approach to caring for green spaces.

  • Develop an enterprising funding model.

  • Enable a more inclusive and diverse user
    experience.

  • Place the true value of these spaces at the heart of decision making.

  • Establish a secure future for natural spaces that ensures they can support growth aims, particularly to provide a high quality of life for all.
